The body of a 77-year-old woman found murdered in her rural Hampshire home was discovered by her son, police said.
Georgina Edmonds was found at the house in Kiln Lane, Otterbourne, when he checked in on her on Friday evening. A post-mortem examination carried out on Saturday revealed she had died of extensive head injuries.
Det Ch-Insp Paul Barton said there was no sign of forced entry but "it would be normal that the house was unlocked if she was home".
"We are keeping an open mind as to what the motive is."
